I loved reading Once There Were Wolves. I think what I liked most is the way the author writes. Her writing is full of surprises. She tells you a few details, which creates questions in your mind. Then you want to keep reading so you can find out the answers to your questions. I can't wait to read her bestseller Migrations. It's not available at the library, so I'm putting it on my Books that Interest Me list.
This weekend I started An Indigenous People's History of the United States by Roxanne Dunbar, and it is fabulous! I'm learning to look at some parts of American history and world history from a new perspective.

I enjoyed The Seed Keeper. On Sunday evening I started reading Once There Were Wolves by Charlotte McConaghy. Two days later I'm about halfway through the book! It is dark and captivating. Once There Were Wolves is about a woman who has a condition that causes her to feel the sensations experienced by others when she sees them. She works with a team of biologists who are reintroducing wolves to Scotland. I think this may be a favorite of mine.

I liked the first part of She Who Became the Sun, but somewhere in the middle I lost interest. I began to look for something else to read. Now I'm reading The Seed Keeper by Diane Wilson. It's about a Dakota girl who grows up in the woods in Minnesota with her father. When he dies she has to live in foster homes. The description of the book says it is a story of "reawakening, of remembering our original relationship to the seeds and, through them, to our ancestors." I am a gardener, and I love the idea of finding links to our people through our relationship with seeds. That's why I was interested in reading this book. I think when I finish this book I will try finishing She Who Became the Sun.

When I finished The Wolf and the Woodsman, I was ready for something new. I've been waiting over a month for the audiobook She Who Became the Sun, by Shelley Parker Chan, to become available at the library, and it was worth the wait! In this book a girl who can see ghosts meets with a fortune teller to hear her fate, and she is disappointed when she hears that her fate will be "nothingness." When her brother, whose fate was "greatness," dies, the girl decides to disguise herself as her brother and live out his fate. So far I can't stop listening!

Today I started reading The Wolf and the Woodsman by Ava Reid. I like it so far. It reminds me of one of my favorite books, The Bear and the Nightingale.
